Can I prepopulate a template for stories, or other work item

Mark Krasovich (51372) | asked Jul 29 '10, 3:59 p.m.
Is it possible to pre-populate a story (work item) in RTC to include a standard set of tasks that must be completed? E.G. I create a new story for project "New" and automatically, a standard set of tasks appear in my story.

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Mark,

RTC 3.0 provides a feature that we call work item templates. You would simply create the story with its tasks and capture a template from them. Once the template is captured you can instantiate it to replicate your work-break-down structure.

A few information about support for work item templates in RTC3.0 can be found at

Hi,

How would you do this in RTC 2.0.0.2? Do you have to write a plug-in? If so, any pointers to examples and docs would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,

you'd have to write Eclipse plugins that extend RTC. An overview of how RTC can be extended and which APIs are provided can be found here:
