BIRT: Reuse existing .rptdesign templates ?
Hi,
How do I reuse an existing .rptdesign template ? I'd like to make minor changes to an existing template, but how do I copy that and save it as a new template ? Thanks in advance |

Hi, First, install the BIRT tooling into your RTC client. Instructions on doing so are in the "Prerequisites" section here: https://jazz.net/wiki/bin/view/Main/ReportsCreatingANewReport20 Next, create a project in your workspace. Import the .rptdesign file into your workspace. Then you can open it with the BIRT report designer. Note that our out-of-the-box .rptdesign files can be found in your RTC client installation area, in the com.ibm.team.examples.reports.common plug-in folder. In the BIRT editor, make whatever changes you want and save the file. (Alternatively, you can make a renamed copy of the file before you start editing, to keep your changes separate). Then, deploy your report - instructions on how to do this are in the above wiki page, in the "Deploying the Report" section. Let me know if the steps aren't clear. james RTC Reports Team Lead Comments
