RQM will not open on Mac

Prokop Krasny (76119) | asked Jun 22 '10, 10:42 a.m.
Using Safari and Firefox on Mac computer I tried to connect to RQM. Maybe I am too simple, but it should just work, right? After all it is a web browser and the application was build for web browser.

Anybody has an experience or idea where to start troubleshooting?

Thank you!

OK, using https://IPAddress:9443/jazz/web/console

instead of https://something-something2.com:9443/jazz/web/console

helped and RQM opens in Safari and also in Firefox. Anybody knows why?

Hi Prokob,

What exactly is the problem? Does RQM get stuck at "Loading..."? Are you getting a 404 error? Etc.

If you are getting a "server not found", have you verified that you can ping the RQM server using the host name (i.e. launch /Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app and run the command "ping something-something2.com")? This could be as simple as a DNS issue in your network (which could be worked around by editing your hosts file if you are unable to correct the underlying issue).

Do you see the same problem(s) when accessing other Jazz servers from OS X?

For example, try the RQM project on Jazz.net: https://jazz.net/jazz02/web/projects/Rational%20Quality%20Manager#action=com.ibm.team.workitem.viewWelcome.

Although it's not officially supported, from a technical standpoint there is no reason why RQM (and other Jazz based applications) would not work from an OS X client, especially if you are using a supported browser (Firefox 3.0.x or 3.5.x).

I have used RQM from my OS X machine without noticeable problems. I have tested Firefox 3.5, Firefox 3.6, Safari 4, and Chrome.

Resolved, I was using wrong VPN for the connection. It indeed works on Firefox and Safari.

Thank you, Patrick.
