Build System Toolkit for Sun Solaris 8 and 10

joe Clark (56118) | asked Jun 15 '10, 6:49 p.m.
Does the RTC Build System Toolkit run on Sun Solaris 8 or 10?
Is it part of the Solaris-64 download on Jazz.net under "Server and Optional Features"?

It looks like the JBE can run on Sun Solaris by using the instructions at:
https://jazz.net/wiki/bin/view/Main/JbeOtherPlatforms

If so, which "flavor" of the build toolkit should I download?

Is there a link for detailed system requirements for the RTC Build System Toolkit similar to the following links that show the supported environments?

I see system requirements for the RTC server at:
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=3488&uid=swg27015746

and for the RTC client at:

Hi Joe,

The Build System Toolkit has the same supported platforms and machine requirements as the RTC client. Although headless, it is implemented as a client to the RTC server (it polls for requests).

For running on Solaris, you can grab either the Windows or Linux version. The Linux version has a jbe.sh script that you could adapt to your setup, so there's a slight preference for that one.

Hope this clarifies.

Regards,
Nick

If I look at the client platforms and machine requirements, I don't see any Sun Solaris support, only Windows x86 and Linux x86.

Client Support:
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=3488&uid=swg27015704

If this does run on Solaris, are the instructions at this link necessary?

Correct, Sun Solaris is not an officially supported platform. However, JBE should work fine if you follow the instructions on that wiki page.
