Can't login a new user
Hi
We've created a new user on LDAP to manage the RTC builds, but we can't get the user credentials to be accepted by the jazz repository.
The user we've created has the same LDAP profile as myself, and is an LDAP JazzUser.
This new user has been imported into RTC fine, and I've given it the Build System licence.
I can't log into the RTC web portal with the new user's details (I can use the credentials to log into the network though).
Any ideas - this is driving me crazy!!

Does the new ID have any mixed case in the ID string ? LDAP usually doesn't care, but RTC does, unless the server is configured to ignore case of logins.

Hi - sadly not, the userId is in lowercase.
Still no joy this morning.
Hi
I just tried an experiment on a new RTC 2.0.0.2 ifix2 server. I created a user with login "build" and gave the user a Build System license, and JazzUsers repository permissions. I can login as that user from the webUI, but only as a read-only. If I remove JazzUsers permission, I can login but not access anything.
Are you show the build user is on your JazzUsers LDAP group, and has been assigned at least JazzUser permissions?
When you say "Can't login" - what happens?

Ok, if I log in to the WebUI as me and navigate to user management and look at the profile of the build user, under 'Repository Permissions' there are 5 non editible selections (JazzAdmins; JazzDWAdmins; JazzGuests; JazzUsers; JazzProjectAdmins). Of these, JazzUsers is selected for the account.
Under 'Client Access Licenses', the build user only has the 'Rational Team Concert - Build System' licence. If I change other users to have the same LDAP and RTC Licence profile they can log into the WebUI - the build user still cannot, and also can't be used to manage the build process. If I try and log in as the build user, the login page displays the 'Invalid user ID or password.' error.
If I try and use the build credentials to start the build engine, the error message is can't log the user into the Jazz Repository.
If I use the build user account details to log into the LAN, no problem!
Thanks

Ah - if you can't edit select the Repository Permissions section and select the permissions, it implies you don't have the appropriate access rights for editing users. Check with whoever has admin rights on the repository to create another build user for (so you can keep working while we sort this out).
Next - can you check your LDAP system to see if the build user is part of the right LDAP group (in this case - it is probably a JazzUsers LDAP group, or it is a LDAP group mapped to JazzUsers).
anthony
Thanks for the reply Anthony.
Yes, I am isolated entierly from the LDAP server - I've checked the groups the build user is part of and it is the same as my profile! I'll try giving it the JazzAdmin group, but that shouldn't make any difference......
Sorry - did not reread your first post where you said you had set the group in LDAP. One more silly Q from me - what version of RTC are you running (eg RTC Express v2.0.0.2 ifix2 on Windows XP as a server, Windows XP client), and what browser are you using (eg: FF3.5).
And what exactly happens when you login on the WebUI with the build user id?

Hi again
No such thing as silly questions, I'm fairly sure there's operator error involved in this somewhere.
RTC Version:
Version: 2.0.0.1
Build id: I20090914-1300
Client OS: XP
Server OS: Win2003
Browser FF 3.6.3
On logging in, the login page refreshes with the error 'Invalid user ID or password.' in red immediately below the login button.
Thanks

Hi Guys,
Has there been a resolution to this by any chance. I have a limited build account created by our helpdesk for this, but i am seeing almost the identical issue.
I am running RTC v3.0.0 iFix 1.
Boris.
I never got this resolved - our build scripts are now all managed by using my user account as the build manager and creating a password file on the build server that encrypts my LAN password. The pain this causes is when my LAN password changes each month, I have to regenerate a passwordfile otherwise the build script will be denied access to the repository (as the password will have expired).
At some point this will happen when I'm off and TSWHTF.
