multiple instances of RTC

Matthias Böhmer (1462019) | asked Feb 22 '08, 7:19 a.m.
Hello,

is it possible to install multiple instances of RCP with different development focus? E.g. one RTC with plugins for developing mobile applications (wireless toolkit etc.) and another instance with plugins for JEE. With Eclipse, I simple have copied the folder of the basic installation and added the plugins into each copy. How can I do this with the IBM Installation Manager?

The IBM Installation Manager allows you to install multiple instances of
the RTC client into separate package groups. Once you have run the
installer to install the installation manager and the rtc client for the
first time, you can simply run the installation manager (Start->All
Programs->IBM Installation Manager->IBM Installation Manager on Windows)
again and select 'Install'. Choose the client offering again and you
will be prompted to install into a different package group. A separate
shortcut will be created for this new instance of RTC.

You can then add features/plugins to each instance as needed to create
the environment you desire.
