Filenames too long

Stefan Stern (4062128) | asked Apr 25 '07, 3:06 p.m.
Hello.

In Jazz R0.6M0 the server ZIP contains Filenames that seem to violate
the maximum filenamelength of Windows NTFS filesystem, which is 256
characters.

I currently encountered some trouble when shifting the Jazz into a VM,
where I didn't have WinZIP installed. Windows zip was not capable to
handle those files. Nor was the VM capable to accept them already
unzipped via drag 'n drop.

Regards,
Stefan

It is recommended that you install Jazz as close as possible to your
root directory. For example, H:\jazz

If you believe you've found a bug in Windows' zip, you might want to
report that problem to Microsoft. Personally, I've always used WinZIP
when I work on Windows.

Hi Jim,

I think it is a bug in the zip program. I remember reading something
about the API used by these programs will not allow the full lenght of
path that NTFS allow. Maybe be try WinRAR. It works for me.

Cheers,
