Archiving Build Definition

Kirk Vogen (12711418) | asked Jan 11 '10, 12:07 p.m.
On RTC 1.0, we came up with a scheme for archiving build definitions. We didn't want to just delete them, as we wanted to keep the old build results. This archiving scheme doesn't appear to be supported on RTC 2.0. Is there anyway to archive old build definitions in 2.0? Or, is there a reason why the scheme explain below won't work in 2.0?

Our scheme was to move the build definition to project area named Build Archive. We did this by modifying the Project or Team Area field of the build definition. Once we saved the build definition, the build would no longer display in our current project area (which was exactly what we wanted to happen). But, since the build definition still existed elsewhere, we could still view the old build results (which is what we wanted).

When I try the same scheme in RTC 2.0, I get this error:

Problem
An error occurred during "Save Build Definition".

java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException: Moving build definition to a different project area is not currently supported.
