Deploying JAS (Jazz Authorization Server) in an existing ELM

Hi folks!

I would like to know if it is necessary to create a database for JAS even if it is not being deployed in a JAS cluster.

I'm deploying the Jazz Authorization Server in order to enable Jazz Security Architecture SSO authentication for an existing IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management, following this documentation:

https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/engineering-lifecycle-management-suite/lifecycle-management/7.0.2?topic=management-enabling-jazz-security-architecture-sso-after-upgrade

This documentation doesn't mencione anything about the JAS database but I read in another documentation that JAS need a database if I'm
Setting up a cluster of Jazz Authorization Servers. (https://jazz.net/wiki/bin/view/Deployment/PerformanceClusteredJAS#Configuring_persistence_for_the)

We are not setting up a cluster of Jazz Authorization Servers but since we are going to deploy it in our production environment, I need to know for sure, if even in my topology, without a JAS cluster, is it necessary to create its database.

Hi

JAS has a default Derby database, but for production use you should set it up immediately (i.e. when you install it) with a proper (DB2/Oracle) database. Derby performance wouldn't scale for production use, and not using Derby also gives you flexibility in the future to easily cluster JAS.
