Ask a question

why is DNG703 always behind the current java version which will be EOL soon?

Michael Sweger (131) | asked May 14, 12:14 p.m.
DOORS Classic was stuck on java 8 for years, and I see that DNG 703 is on java 11. Java 11 EOL is Oct 24 per this weblink. https://javaalmanac.io/jdk/

Currently Java 21 is the current LTS support version til at least 9/28 although Java 21 is EOL 3/24.

So, why aren't the tools not kept up to date for the java version number. One of the reasons, is that RPE/Publisher javascript is limited to these older versions when one wants to use a more up to date Javscript language statements in the RPE/Pub scripts?

The leads to another question. Can one install the latest java version for DOORS Classic/ELMS and replace the one that came with the original installed product so that one doesn't have to wait for IBM to catch up?

That URL is not an authoritative source of information for IBM Java versions. The Java 11 used in ELM products will not be EOL in 2024.

Did you try to use catch and try surrounding your code?

It would be preferable to have one question per records.
That will help the community to find answer to there questions.
