Details on link permissions for GC components in ELM 7.0.2

Hello,

I need more Information on the following permissions that can be assigned to roles in a GC project area in ELM 7.0.2.
- Add or remove References links --> what exactly are reference links?
- Add or remove Release links --> I guess this is about linking to release objects in EWM? Can you provide a link to a detailed description that explains how these links work?
- Add or remove user-defined links --> I guess this refers to user defined (custom) link attributes to which any link could be assigned to, right?

Thanks!

References is an out-of-the-box system defined link type that corresponds to dcterms:references . You can see this in the Manage Type Definitions....Link Types... dialog. See https://www.dublincore.org/specifications/dublin-core/dcmi-terms/#http://purl.org/dc/terms/references.

Release is an out-of-the-box system defined link type that is used to create links from a global configuration to EWM releases. You can see this in the Manage Type Definitions....Link Types... dialog. See https://jazz.net/library/article/96597 for details of its usage.

"Add or remove user-defined links" - yes, that permission is for user-defined custom link types.

Thanks David!

One more question regrading the Release links. Usually you would refer to one or more GC configurations i.e. a streams or baselines to a Release in EWM. So I wonder why this permission can be set also on GC component level? The same permission can be found also under GC Streams and GC Baselines...

GCM allows you to create link values for any link types on global components, if you add those link types to the global component artifact type. By default, the release link type is not added to the global component artifact type. So in practice, unless a user customizes the global component artifact type, you cannot create release links on global components.
