Export RTC reports in MS Excel 365, is it possible?

When generating a RTC report and downloading it to Excel, the users get the following error:


"Excel cannot open the file "Report (1).XLS" because the file format or file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matched the format of the file"

Since MS Excel 365 is being used, it is not supporting files .xls (it only supports .xslx) and RTC exports excel files only in *.xls.

We are working with 6.0.3 version, so we were wondering if it is supported in RTC later versions or if we need to install a plugin or something similar.
