sharing Lab Resources across project areas

Jim McVea (4688) | asked Oct 13 '09, 5:52 p.m.
Hello,
In my organization, we have different projects that we want to track in RQM for test purposes, so we're looking at creating multiple project areas.
However, the machines used for testing are sometimes shared across the project teams.

I hope I haven't missed this in the documentation, but is it possible to create lab resources using the Lab Management function which are visible/shared across project areas? Or are lab resources scoped only to a specific project area? If so, any suggestions on way to manage and reserve test machines across project areas?

Thanks,
...Jim

We have the same issue. We need to have several project areas, but still share the test clients to run the tests. Therefore, we need to have some kind of sharing lab resources, or we would have to configure the same lab resource for each project area, which makes no sense at all. There will be conflicts on the real lab resource which we would never be able to solve.

I couldn't find any way to share lab resources, but i hope this will come in a feature release.

I have the same situation. And I think this is really important. Otherwise functionality like reservation doesn't really make sense. And for every update of the lab resource (e.g. new browser version, new test tool version) I have to update all lab resources in all Project Areas.

So at the moment the only work around I see is to manage the lab resources in excel and to synchronize it with the RQMExcelWordImporter. But of course, this doesn't help for reservation
