how to restrict work items based on work item categories belogining to different team area?

I want users belonging to different team areas should not be able to see each others workitems. I am trying adding workitems categories and associating different team areas to each category.

This way I assume user belonging to Team area 1 should only see items belonging to team area 1 and vice versa when I select the category from Filed Against. Somehow this is not working. I am missing on some link i guess. Please help!

Note, being member of the project area is not enough. To see a work item with category based read access restrictions owned by a team you have to be member of the team area or a member of a sub team area of this team area.

Access groups can also be used, but are not automatic.
