RTC 5.0.2 and WAS 9.0.0.4 Compatibility

Andre Dunham (131) | asked Sep 05 '17, 2:21 p.m.

Silly question.

I'm currently running RTC 5.0.2.  I migrated from Tomcat over to WAS 9.0.0.4.  RTC 5.0.2 is an older version and I was wondering if it was compatible with WAS 9.0.0.4?  I tried to download the version of WAS that was compatible with RTC 5.0.2 but was forced to download the latest version of WAS which is 9.0.0.4.  I hope this makes sense.

Everything is running on Windows 2008R2

JAZZ DEVELOPER

The system requirements for 5.0.2 indicate that the maximum supported version of WAS is 8.5.5 and future fixpacks (see: https://jazz.net/wiki/bin/view/Deployment/CLMSystemRequirements50)

Similarly, from the system requirements for RTC 6.0.4 the maximum supported version of WebSphere is still only 8.5.5 and future fixpacks (see: https://ibm.biz/Bdjj9Y)

While it may work, if you do install into WAS 9.0.0 you would need to reproduce any errors you find in a supported version before you open any PMRs with IBM so I would recommend against doing so.

Incidentally; if you have any plans to upgrade to 6.0.x there is a direct upgrade from Tomcat to WebSphere Liberty Profile as part of the process, neatly bypassing the need to install a full WAS AS environment.
