Embedded display of DOC/DOCX files in browser

Yael K (471230) | asked Jul 07 '16, 4:31 a.m.
 Hi all,

I'm trying to open a Word document (.doc, .docx) inside the web browser,
by navigating to source control --> streams and double-clicking on the relevant file.

However the browser doesn't display the file, and shows this message:
"Unable to show file as its content is application/unknown. If this is known to contain text, show anyway or please consider downloading the file to open in a native editor"
Choosing "show anyway" option results in gibberish text displayed in the browser.

Is there a solution to display this document embedded in the browser?

Thanks,
Yael

Not that I am aware of.

If it would be a CAT or CAE file or any other binary where some tool exists to open it, the situation would be the same. You have to download the file and open it with the application installed on the client to view/edit it.
