What does the "+" and "-" symbols mean in the Change explorer view in the RTC Eclipse client?

When I am displaying a changeset in the change explorer view of the RTC eclipse client, there are "+" or "-" symbols located next to some of the folder or file icons.  What do these symbols mean?

When you say "add and delete" , what do you mean?

you are looking at a CHANGE set

what are the changes in a change set??  adds and deletes, right?
added lines to the source,
deleted lines from the source..

add files/folders
remove files/folders
