Select Users dialog to search and add subscribers

Kishore Nagareddy (3028) | asked Feb 03 '16, 3:57 p.m.
We recently upgraded from Jazz 4.0.6 to 5.0.2.

On 4.0.6, if you need to add subscribers to a work item, clicking on 'Add' brings up the 'Select Users' dialog where we could search for a user, then click on 'Add' button to add the user and then go on to search for the next user to add. This dialog had three buttons 'Add and Close', 'Add', 'Close' on it which made it easier to search and add multiple users without closing the 'Select Users' dialog until you are done adding all the users you wish to add.

On 5.0.2 (and 6.0.0), the above buttons were replaced by 'Ok' and 'Cancel'. So, now we have to bring up this dialog for each user you want to add.

Any idea why this was changed? Is there any other way in the WebUI to add multiple subscribers in one shot?

Hi, Kishore,

From the newer Select Users dialog, there are a number of methods for selecting the users you want to add as subscribers.

You can enter a single user's name in the box and click Search.

You can enter a space before a name in the box and click Search to show all users that match the characters.

You can select users from the Users from history list.

To select more than one individual from a list, click the first user, then press and hold the Ctrl button as you click other users.  When you click Select, the users are added to the Selected users list.

To select consecutive users from a list, click the first user, then press and hold the Shift key and click the last user from the list to highlight all of those users from the first click to the last click. When you click Select, the highlighted users are added to the Selected users list.

When you have finished selecting all of the users you want to subscribe to the work item, click OK.

Thanks Patrick for responding.

It still is more cumbersome than before.  I've just tried it, and for multiple users that don't have any common substrings in their name, the only way is to get the list with everyone in it, but then picking just the people you want is quite painful.

This is not an answer, merely a comment to the Jazz Team! As I have recently upgraded from 4.0.7 to 5.0.2.

This is a very strange decision to change the behavior of the "Select Users" while adding subscribers. And if this was such a good idea - why not change the "Select Users" when adding approvers?
