Standalone app using Jazz client library?

Hi group,
I'm exploring the integration of a standalone app with the Jazz repository. Somewhere I read it is possible to use the Jazz repository that way using the provided services. If my memory serves me right, there is a Java client library that can be used to accomplish this.

Now I'm looking for that library and documentation. My searches using Google and search function of jazz.net didn't help me.

Where can I find the library and documentation?

What server-side functionality do you want to use?

I'm not looking for very specific functionality, I'm more at a stage where I want to explore what is possible. But to start concrete and simple, I would like to try creating work items, or listing work items of a user.
