How can I make fields in RQM mandatory?

Perry Smith (126172) | asked Jun 30 '09, 3:29 p.m.
Our system consists of RQM 1.0.1.1. and ClearQuest 7.1. When values entered into RQM are invalid for CQ mandatory fields, syncs fail. How can I make fields in RQM mandatory? Simply having all CQ mandatory fields mapped between RQM and CQ is not enough.

You have to use the Team Concert Client for this task. If you do not have it installed, it is available in the RQM package, and have to be installed separately.

Read the two articles about Work Item customization;

http://jazz.net/library/article/131

search the article 131 for "Required Properties Precondition" where it is described how to set fields mandatory.

I've read the documents you referenced.

I have a enumeration called Severity that has 3 values. I need Severity to be a required RQM field for workItemType: Defect. I added a custom attribute Severity to that work item type. In Operational Behaviors, under Save work item,a list of attributes appears from which I can select those I want to be Required Properties. Severity does not appear on the list. How can I make Sevrity a required RQM field? having a Enumeration called Severity associated with the category or type apparently is not enough.

I beleive, and somebody correct me it I'm wrong, but enumerations cannot be setup and flagged as a mandatory field. You can however, set the enumeration to have one of the values as default - this will basically do the same trick to ensure you always have a value in it.
