Installing RTC 2.0 into a RSA 7.5.2 Eclipse

Thorsten Gau (8621212) | asked Jun 28 '09, 7:03 a.m.
Looks like an obvious task, but I have trouble getting it work.

I do:
* Have existing RSA 7.5.2 installation at
C:\opt\IBM\SDPShared
C:\opt\IBM\SDP
* Run Installation Manager with RTC 2.0
- create a new package group @ C:\opt\IBM\RTC20
- option "Extend an existing Eclipse" @ C:\opt\IBM\SDP

error:
There is a package installed at "C:\opt\IBM\SDP". The Eclipse IDE must not be the same as an existing package installation directory.

What am I doing wrong?

You shouldn't select an existing Elipse but an existing package. But
AFAIK, RSA 7.5.2 doesn't support yet the new RTC Client. Anyway, under
your own decision, I heard/read that you should uninstall RTC Client
feature from RSA 7.5.2 (just in case you selected it) and then install
RTC Client 2.0 package on top of RSA 7.5.2 package.

Hope this helps,

Chemi.

You can install RTC 2.0 client into the same package of RSA 7.5.2, but you need to remove the RTC feature which is integrated with RSA.

You can use installation manager to modify this. I mean, modify you current RSA first, then install RTC 2.0 client.

So RSA 7.5.2 does not officially support the RTC 2.0 Client. Is there an outlook on when RTC 2.0 will OFFICIALLY be compatible with RSA (RTC 2.0 compatible plug-in)?

The question is primarily what versions of Eclipse is RSA-7.5.2
compatible with. The RTC-2.0 Eclipse plug-in is compatible with
Eclipse-3.4.2, and "tolerates" Eclipse-3.5 (I started a separate thread
earlier today asking what "tolerates" means here).

Cheers,
Geoff

I have RSA 7.5.3 with RTC 1.0. After read some threads I uninstalled my RTC 1.0 and installed RTC 2.0. Now when I open RSA and switch to my workspace created by a standalone RTC 2.0 installation, I get an error Message:
Computing local changes
Update Platform Ignores

If I go ahead and load the workspace, select my project and try to do a Check In, I get a new error message:
An internal error occurred during "Checking in"

And the project is not updated.
Any idea?

I've seen similar errors when the SCM metadata has become corrupt. You
could try running a repair from the Jazz Source Control preference page
and see if that helps.
