Import tool to migrate from ClearCase to RTC

Hi, is there any migration tool to move from ClearCase to RTC?. I know
about the CC connector and the new CC bridge in RTC 2.0 but if I want to
move everything I have in CC and start to work only with RTC 2.0. Which
is the best solution you suggest?.

Thanks in advance,

Ana

I wont comment on the importer, there have been enough responses to that.

However, are you constrained to using RTC2?

In my opinion, RTC2 is a bit of a toy, RTC4 is better, but irregardless of that, you could be exposing yourself to a potential nightmare upgrade process from RTC2 to later versions down the track (well, maybe not you, but someone else).

So if you have some control or influence over this, better to go the later RTC releases.

RTC 2 is not a constraint anymore. That version was the one used by the customer at 2009 when I asked for the importer, but they have already migrated to last release

Yes, as of RTC 2.0 the ClearCase integration allows import function which brings history between baselines/tags as described in the 2.0 M3 new and noteworthy doc:

The ClearCase importer now lets you import data from base ClearCase as well as from UCM streams. My question is can you use the importer tool with ClearCase LT 7.0.1.1?

Hi

I don't think you will be able to use the importer with LT. My understanding i that the importer is based on the CC Connector, which uses dynamic views. CC LT does not have dynamic views.

Is there a recommendation on how we should go about importing all of our code including history?

If you are going to move from ClearCase LT to RTC, your IBM/Rational
sales rep should be able to get you a temporary full ClearCase license
that will let the ClearCase importer create the dynamic views that it needs.

For information on the import function of the CC Synchronizer, I'd
suggest looking at the on-line help ... if you have an Eclipse client
installed, just look up "clearcase importer" in your local Eclipse help.
If you don't have an Eclipse client, use the on-line help from the web
(e.g., the 2.0 documentation is at:
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/rtc/v2r0m0/index.jsp
The full topic title is "Configuring and using the ClearCase Importer"
