Work Item customization question
Hi.
I have two questions... 1. I'm creating a new customized defect type that gathers additional info. Currently, defects have been mapped to the default work item type in the SCRUM template. I'll be creating a new Editor Presentation and changing the binding for the Defect work item type. For Defect work items that were created before this mapping change, is there a way to synchronize them with the changes? I've heard querying for all Defects and then choosing one column of the results, in the Work Item window, right click->Synchronize Attributes will synchronize the work items. I haven't been able to get that to work, or I should say I haven't been able to get that on my right click menu. 2. Is there a way to have custom attributes(fields) be a required value? I see how to make a field required in the Operational Behavior section. The problem is, the fields presented as choices to make required, don't custom fields. Is there a way to add them as custom fields so I can make them be required? Any help or insight would be appreciated!! |

Hi
1. The synchronize action is available from the 'type' column (usually it has no column name) showing the work item type icon. Synchronization is needed when custom attributes are added to a work item type. Changes to the presentations do not need any synchronize. 2. Custom attributes are configured int he same Operation Behavior section, they should show up automatically. However in 1.0 it was not possible to have a enumeration attribute required. 2.0 supports this. What is the type of the custom attributes that do not show up? Regards Marcel Jazz Work Item team |
Hi Hi Marcel. The attribute that we want to be required is an enumeration. Looks like we will have to wait for 2.0. Thanks for the great info! |
