Is it possible to automatically lock files on edit ?

Hi

I'm just having a look at M3 - can see that I can manually lock files - but I wonder whether there is an intention to provide a preference to automatically lock files on edit ( or to lock certain kinds of file on edit).

I'm thinking here about files that you don't want to merge ( models say, there was a preferences which said whenever you modified a model file - then lock it, it would be a lot more useable.

Your thoughts ?
