RRC - How do I change the list of artifact types in the Create Artifact menu?
Using RRC 4.0.5, how can I change which artifact types are listed in the "Create Artifact" shortcut menu (in the main header, labelled "Artifacts", just under "Browse Artifacts") ? Right now one of my most commonly used types is not listed and I have to go to "More..." to create an artifact of that type. I would have expected this to be something I could toggle on/off for each artifact type in project administration.

Hi Robert,
In 4.0.5, I don't think it is possible to control the default menu which displays the list artifact types to use when creating a new artifact. As far as I know, this list is sorted alphabetically, so one option would be to rename your preferred artifact type to something starting with the letter "A" or a number. Not a very elegant solution, but it should work all the same.
Alternatively, I know there was a feature introduced in version 4.0.6 to allow preferred artifact types (labelled as "Preferred Module Content" in the artifact type editor for module format types) when creating artifacts within the context of a Module. More information about this feature can be found on this help page: Creating Artifact Types. This sounds more like the functionality you are looking for, however like I mentioned, it is only applicable for artifacts being created within the context of a module. In order to support this behavior in future releases of RRC/DNG, I would suggest that you submit an enhancement request, either through a Jazz.net work item or else through Rational Support.
Hope this helps,
Mike Jaworski

Thanks Michael. I took my three most frequently used Artifact Types and "numbered" them (the type names now start with "1.", "2.", "3."). That took 2 minutes and works a treat!
