What type of data compressions are possible in RTC for attached files ?

Siegfried Oesterreicher (10713730) | asked May 09 '14, 8:52 a.m.
Whe are currently discussing compression possibilities in RTC/RQM/RRC/DM for attached files (documents, presentation,...)
What type of compressions are possible and how can we set and check the settings ?

We need to know this for:
  • SCM area files
  • WorkItem attachments
Any thoughts how the settings need to be to save as much space as possible through compressing of the attachments ?

Thanks in advance
Siegfried

scm does save 'files' it saves changes. how those are stored in the sql database is not documented.

how attachments are stored in the swl database is not documented.

you have no control if compression is used or not.

Based on this article there is compression and it could be seen on SCM artifacts: https://jazz.net/library/article/984

What about the documents attached to WorkItems? Are they handled the same way ?

Thanks

thanks for that.. hadn't see that article..
one comment tho makes it moot
>We suggest you do not change your Jazz server's settings for content compression.

don't know about attachment compression. again, don't think you will have effective control over it.
