User Licensing for Lifecycle Integration Adapters Tasktop Edition?
Accepted answer
IBM offers the Tasktop integration capabilities via an OEM that IBM has with Tasktop Technologies called "Rational Lifecycle Integration Adapters Tasktop Edition." Neither Tasktop nor IBM provides automated license enforcement for these adapters. Customers are licensed for the adapters based on how they are licensed for the lifecycle tools that the adapters are integrating (which we refer to as the "endpoints" of the integration setup). Since you're question is in the context of Authorized Users, I'll explain how that model works.
Every user who benefits from the integration adapter needs a license. For example, if 10 RTC users are integrating with 15 HP ALM/QC users, you need 25 adapter licenses. Tasktop is a continuous integration solution. The software runs on a server and constantly monitors the repositories or other data stores associated with the endpoint tools. So all users of RTC and HP ALM/QC in this example are constantly benefiting from having their work synchronized with each other, and therefore, all users need a license of the adapter.
