[closed] Constant problems downloading full DM product archives

Hi folks,

For the last 6 months I've been having real hassles downloading the Design Manager full repositories. Unlike the CLM products, for some reason they don't support multiple segment downloading, they don't report a file size to download managers, and it appears they are stopping one byte short of a full download :-(

I see this issue with both the RSA DM Client and DM Server full repository files (have not tried downloading Rhapsody ones). I am also seeing this problem downloading the RELM server full repository as well.

I have no problems with any CLM or RAM full file downloads - they report their size properly and support multi segment downloads.

Are these files hosted on different download servers? Maybe it's a file size issue as they are all the ones giving problems are over 2Gigs in size.

I just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU for listening to my plight and separating the DM products out into smaller zip files, as of the 4.0.6 release!!

All DM files are now downloadable, resumable, and multi-part capable - it was definitely due to their file size being over that magic 2G number :-) It's also much more efficient if CLM is already downloaded.

Here's hoping the RELM folks do the same in their next 4.0.6 release as well!!

Hi Davyd,

Thank you for the feedback.
The release team did indeed a great job with 4.0.6. Thanks to them!
I will reach out to the RELM guys to see if they can put the same requirement in (if not there) for the next version.

Regards
François

Thanks Millard,

Just been trying to download latest full zips for:
 - DM Clients
 - DM Server
 - RELM

And I'm having exactly the same problems. Constant dropouts and unable to resume, file saying it's finished and only a few Megs downloaded, no multi segment download acceleration.

I downloaded the CLM zips (server, client, build engine) at exactly the same time and they were a breeze.

It seems to be a problem with any files over the magic 2Gig file size, and none of the download managers I have tried seem to be able to calculate a file size or time remaining, which makes me think it's a problem with signed vs unsigned long integers at the server end.

One really useful way to fix this would be to break the downloads into the standard CLM parts, and then the specific extensions (DM and RELM specific parts on both client and server). Given CLM is at the core of all these products it seems silly to have to download it again and again every time, and this would make the file sizes smaller as well.

This is really becoming a problem for not only myself, but also for some of my clients.

I have pinged the appropriate folks again (and admonished them for not handling this last time). Sorry for the difficulties, we will eventually get this sorted.

Hi,

I have reached out to some of my contacts as well so that the DM download experience improves.
Thanks
François

Many thanks! It's quite frustrating. At the moment I have the internally downloaded 4.0.3 zips and I search for updates. This seems to be working but it only finds a 4.0.4 Configuration Management component (vvc). All others are found at 4.0.5.

At the moment I can't tell if VVC is intentionally still 4.0.4 or not because I can't get the official zips.
