how to set the category for the plan/root project

Running 4.0.3
When we create a work item from the WorkItems menu, the default category gets set correcty. However, when I create a work item from a plan in a ranked list, the default category value is not taken into account.
Any idea why tasks
created from within the plan view are always getting their category (filed
against field) set to a another value for our project?

Hi Norman,

Looks like a work item created from the WorkItems view correctly picks up the defined default category value, while the one created in the Plan view just uses the first category in the category list. You may want to submit a defect on (and open a PMR with Support) for this issue.
