Does RTC P2 Repository 4.0.3 support Eclipse 4.2.2?

Currently I (and also all developers at my company) have an Eclipse Juno environment with a lot of plugins and custom tools, so download and install the full RTC eclipse client 4.0.3 is not the best option for us.

Instead of that we would like to update our eclipse using the p2 repository

Does anybody knows whether or not the 4.0.3 p2 repository can be installed / is supported on Eclipse 4.2.2?

Hi

4.0.3 ships with an Eclipse 4.2.x client.  I have not tried installing the p2 repo into a plain Eclipse 4.2.x instance - but it should work.

It will install but there may be issues that are fixed in Eclipse 4.3. Those issues should be fixed with the IBM Eclipse SDK that is available through the IM install. The p2 install won't have those fixes.

For the detailed System Requirements for 4.0.3 see the following article

4.2.2 is listed as supported eclipse client

Hi Angela,
According to https://jazz.net/wiki/bin/view/Deployment/CLMSystemRequirements#B3_Eclipse_IDE_RTC_Eclipse_Clien.
You should also be able to install 4.0.3 on P2 repository: http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/clmhelp/v4r0m3/topic/com.ibm.jazz.install.doc/topics/t_client_installation_p2.html

Yes it works.

I am using 4.0.3 RTC on 4.2.2 Eclipse that I installed via the p2 repository.

The requirements page lists support for the IBM Eclipse SDK, which is the one packaged as an IM install. That version has some extra fixes backported from Eclipse 4.3 to fix bugs that RTC has with Eclipse 4.x. I would recommend that method of installing to avoid any issues.

Thanks Tim.

According to your answer, can I assume that installing RTC 4.0.3 using the p2 repo into an Eclipse 4.3 instance would work?

The install will work. The issues with Eclipse 4.2.2 aren't related to the install.

It's not supported and I strongly recommend against using this for production. Eclipse 4.3 is not really stable yet.
