Getting started with Rational DOORS Next Generation with Configuration Management 5.0 beta 1
Rational DOORS Next Generation with Configuration Management beta 1 is a technical preview release that you can use to try the requirements configuration management features in Rational DOORS Next Generation. You can isolate your work and practice requirements reuse by working in streams and snapshots, share your work by delivering changes to other streams, and use change sets for formal change management.
To get started quickly, read the New & Noteworthy page and set up a new server and two sample projects by following the instructions in the Quick setup guide. Then, start following the scenarios in the task guide.
About the download: Rational DOORS Next Generation with Configuration Management beta 1 is provided as part of a Collaborative Lifecycle Management (CLM) all-in-one installer that includes the option to deploy a shared Jazz Team Server and the Change and Configuration Management (CCM), Quality Management (QM), Requirements Management (RM), and Configuration Management (CM) applications, and trial licenses for Rational DOORS Next Generation with Configuration Management beta 1, Rational Team Concert, and Rational Quality Manager that unlock access to capabilities provided by the applications. The trial licenses for this beta expire on September 15, 2014.

1Plan and prepare

Rational DOORS Next Generation with Configuration Management beta 1 is supported only with the packaged Apache Derby database on Windows and Linux platforms. For details about the supported Windows and Linux platforms, see the system requirements.
2Install the server and applications
To perform a web installation of the server, download the web installer for your platform (see the previous section), extract the .zip file, and start the launchpad (launchpad.exe or launchpad.sh, depending on your platform). The server includes Apache Derby to support up to 10 users.
If you need to install the server in an environment without access to the Internet, visit the All Downloads page, download a repository for the server and trial licenses, and install by using IBM Installation Manager.
Note: During the installation process, you have the option to install different applications. To try Rational DOORS Next Generation with Configuration Management beta 1, at a minimum, install Jazz Team Server, the RM application, the CM application, and the trial licenses. If you want to try the cross-application integration scenarios, also install the QM and Change and Configuration Management CCM applications.
3Set up the server
After the installation, complete the steps in the Jazz Team Server setup wizard, which is available at https://fully_qualified_host_name:9443/jts/setup (where fully_qualified_host_name is the domain for your server).
