Workaround summary

Problem

In Rational Quality Manager 4.0.5, the “Require actual results on steps” server-level setting is replaced by the “Require an Actual Result for Script Steps” precondition. With that precondition, you can define a process to require actual results for failed steps only, for blocked steps only, or for all of the step results.

Workaround

To use the “Require an Actual Result for Script Steps” precondition, follow the steps in the Defining a precondition to mandate actual results in a manual test script help topic.

Problem

When you try to download a file by using Internet Explorer, the download might fail with an error message. This problem occurs on Internet Explorer only.

For example, on the Manage Export Queue page, if you try to download a CSV or PDF file, the suggested file name might be download?uuid=_1KPWUCw2EeOfBJpaQkqO-g. Then, if you try to download the file, the download fails. On Internet Explorer 9, this problem is caused by the “Do not save encrypted pages to disk” setting.

Workaround

Complete these steps:

  1. In Internet Explorer, click Tools > Internet Options, and then click the Advanced tab.
  2. Scroll to the Security section. Find the Do not save encrypted pages to disk check box and clear it. Click OK.

Workaround summary

Problem

This problem occurs in the Test Cases list view and in the Test Cases section of a test plan. The link in the test script column incorrectly points to the test plan that uses the test script ID. If you click the link, you might see a “test plan not found” error or open an irrelevant test plan that happens to have the same ID as the test script.

Workaround

Complete these steps:

  1. Hover over the test script link, but do not click it.
  2. In the rich hover that opens, click the title of the test script. That link is a valid link to the test script.

Workaround summary

Problem

If you have a large number of test cases, such as over 500, the following method of generating test case execution records does not work reliably:

  1. Browse to Planning > Create test plan.
  2. In the Test Cases section, add a large number of test cases (for example, 1000), and save the test plan.
  3. Select all the test cases and generate test case execution records.

Workaround

Complete the steps for the application server that you use.

IBM WebSphere Application Server

  1. Stop the CLM/QM server.
  2. Set the system property as follows: maxParamPerRequest="1000000". For details about setting the system property, see Set up system property.
  3. Start the CLM/QM server.

Apache Tomcat

  1. Stop the CLM/QM server.
  2. Set the attribute on the Connector tag of the Server.xml file as follows: maxParameterCount="1000000". For details about setting the attribute, see Set connector attribute.
  3. Start the CLM/QM server.

Workaround summary

Problem

If you create two or more values with the same name for different category types, and those two category types are part of the same hierarchy branch, when you save, the lowest hierarchy value is not assigned to any parent value.

Workaround

Complete one of the following workarounds:

Workaround 1
1. If you have two values with the same name, first save the hierarchy of the first value.
2. After you save the first value, save the second value in a separate operation.

Workaround 2
Use the hierarchy view to create your hierarchy.
