How to upgrade RAD 7.5 to use RTC 1.0.1?

As per subject really. We have RAD 7.5 which comes with RTC 1.0 built in.

When I try and do an update either via RAD itself or Installation Manager I don't get an option to upgrade the RTC client.

Does anyone know when this update is planned or how to get it if it is available?

Cheers, Chris

Hi Chris

There was a query about this earlier:

I didn't see any discussion about how to upgrade your client if you
are are using RTC embedded in RAD 7.5 (or RSA 7.5). Should the
Installation Manager still work for these?

Installation manager updates for the embedded, optionally installable,
RTC feature in the 7.5 RAD/RSA products will be available as part of
maintenance updates to those products (so a 1.0.1 or newer RTC client
would be available in the next update to the 7.5 RAD/RSA product).

In the interim, if you need to update your client to the RTC 1.0.1 bits
you should be able to accomplish this by downloading one of the RTC
1.0.1 installation manager installers (web or local) and installing the
offering into the same shell as your 7.5 RAD/RSA. Note that 1.0.1 and
1.0 are compatible so there should be no hard requirement to update.

So Chris and I have exchanged an email or two on this. When he tries to install RTC 1.0.1 and targets the existing RAD installation, he can't install.

I tried to do as you suggested and upgrade RTC to 1.01 within RAD but had
problems. I assume I need to select a fresh installation directory (I
chose c:\ibm\rtc-1.01) and I chose "C:\Program Files\IBM\SDP" as the
existing Eclipse to extend. This gave me the error "There is a package
installed at "C:\Program Files\IBM\SDP". The Eclipse IDE must not be the
same as an existing package installation directory".

What have we done wrong?

many thanks

I managed to resolve this thanks to Adrian Daniels.

The secret was to :-
- run the installation from the "install RTC client" option in the RTC launchpad
- choose RAD 7.5 as the install package (should be in the list already)
- Under "Location", use an existing package group and select "IBM Software Delivery Platform"
- Choose the default options from there

...and it should work!
