We would like to move to the latest release of RSA, including a switch to 64 bit Java 7. Will we need to upgrade Jazz to version 4 as well?

Accepted answer
FYI, I was able to install RTC 3.0.1.3 and RSA 8.5 32-bit simultaneously using Installation Manager. This works with Java 7. See http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21598114
We will need to wait for a RTC 4.0 server upgrade to switch to 64-bit RSA. Ralph Schoon selected this answer as the correct answer

Hi Dave
I am fairly sure you will need to move to RTC 4 - and it is the move to 64-bits that forces your hand. Here is my logic...
The latest release of RSA is 8.5 - this includes a 64-bit version of RSA. The first 64-bit version of the RTC client plugin shipped in RTC v4 - so you need that for the RSA 64-bit version (unless 64-bit Eclipse works with 32-bit plugins - that I have not tried)
As an aside - from RTC v4 onwards, we can run RTC v3 clients against a v4 server, but not the other way around (v4 client talks to v3 server)

Dave, you need to check which Eclipse version RSA supports. RTC 3.0 supports https://jazz.net/library/article/632. You need to have a match between the version used by RSA and a version that RTC supports. There have been many discussion about RSA/RAD,.... and RTC 2.x and 3.x in this forum. I think RTC3 works with RSA 8.0.x. But you need to check what RSA 8.5 requires and you might have to go to RTC 3.0.1 or 4.0.
