VS Client: unable to display value set combo or picker

I'm using VS Client 3.0.1.3.
Added a custom attribute to my work item, with presentation set to Value Set Picker.
(but my issue also shows-up using Value Set Combo).

Creating a new work item with this custom attribute:
- using RTC Eclipse Client or WebUI: the attribute is rendered / displayed correctly
- using the VS Client: attribute is not displayed.

Is this a bug?

I found that this was working fine using VS Client version 4.0GA.
It turns out that Value Set Combo and Picker are not supported in RTC 3.X,
but implemented in RTC 4.0 using jazz.net enhancement # 180143
