How to properly use the non-floating license?
Hi
As shown below, the Developer licenses we have is not floating. It's called Authorized User license, right? https://jazz.net/library/article/548/ In RTC, I have to assign a Developer license to each developer who wants to access RTC. Half of time they are not using RTC, but still I can't give his license to someone else. This is less efficient than a floating license. Am I doing the things right? |

Hi Yes, it appears you have an authorized user license. It is designed to be assigned to a specific person. The advantage is that user will always be able use the software as the license is assigned permanently to that user. It is also a lower cost option. However, as you point out, you will not be able to pass the license from one user to another when it is not being used. Most people seem to use a mixture of authorized user and floating licenses to get the right balance. Hope that helps anthony |

That is correct, and is why a floating license is more expensive than an
authorized (fixed) user license. In general, there will be some price ratio between a floating license and an authorized user license. What is cheaper (which I assume is what you mean by "efficient") depends on how many of your users can effectively share a single floating license.
