Error saving WI: "Could not save work item. Save Status
I use Simple team process. I have work item of type Enhancement. The original status is "New". I found that another WI with the same topic already exists in RTC so I wanted to mark this Enhancement as duplicate. I added Duplicate of link and set status to "Resolve" and resolution to "Duplicate". When I hit Save I get error message "Could not save work item. Save Status.".
I don't understand what RTC is complaining about, because to me it seems that all the steps I've done were correct. Moreover I could not google any explanation of this message. Could anybody explain what this means? Thanks in advance, jan |

Ok. I figured it out by myself right after posting the question (how usual...). I'll keep the message here just in case somebody gets caught in the same trap. The problem was that I didn't configure the correct relation. I added "Duplicated By" link, but I should have added "Duplicate Of" link.
After adding the "Duplicate Of" link the save proceeded without error. Anyways -- the error message could be a little more descriptive in my opinion... |

To mark something as a duplicate, you have to specify what work item it
is a duplicate of (by adding a duplicate-of link). If it isn't telling you that, it is a bug ... please submit a defect (create a work item or call support). Ideally, it would just prompt you for the duplicate work item ID (which I don't think it currently does) ... that would be a good enhancement request to submit.
