create TER for TestCase/Testplan and no milestone?
I need TERs for all test cases in a test plan, otherwise there is no reporting on tests not run
I planned to create a TER for each testcase/environment
e.g.
testcase1_envA
testcase1_envB
testcase2_envA
testcase2_envB
etc
However, if even one milestone is assigned to this test plan, any TERs created have to also be assigned to one of the milestones.
As we are using milestones to indicate the test build under test, this would result in many TERs per test case (i.e. one for each build-environment combination)
Any ideas on a better approach?
Thanks

Hello,
Milestones aren't really the right concept for what you're looking for.
Instead, we do offer a concept of "Builds" in RQM. You don't necessarily need to integrate with a build system to populate this information - you can create lightweight build records "by hand" to track your daily/weekly/etc builds.

When you run a test, open the Execution Result and you can edit it to associate a build.
Let us know how that works and if you have any feedback.

Hmmm - you know you raise a good point.
We don't have an execution status by build (i.e. "build health") report. You could always write your own, but I'm not aware of anything out of the box. I just checked Insight/RRDI and BIRT and don't see anything there.
I do suggest you submit enhancements in this area to jazz.net.
I'm not quite following why you'd link a build to a Test Plan.
The Execution Result will be linked to a Build. The Execution Result is also associated with a Test Execution Record, which will be your linkage to the Test Plan itself (and optionally Milestone).

I agree with John in the sense that you shouldn't be using milestones for each of your builds, as that seems unmanageable overtime.
In either case, you can still create TERs for your Test Plan that don't have a milestone set. On the first page of the generate TER wizard where it shows plan and milestone, you can hold down the control key and click the milestone that was selected for you by default. This will deselect it and allow you to generate a TER without a milestone.
It shouldn't be that hard for you to find and I've created this work item to improve the user experience:

Hi
RQM 301 provides a column for build in the Testcase Result table and there is a open workitem to add same for Testsuite result table.
However currently this column does not provide multi row change like it is supported in some other tables like Testcase Execution Record. You can open Enhancement request for it.
Note: Tests executed due to schedule (Execution Sequence) are automatically associated with build in RQM 301, if scheduled is triggered by new build
