Making Work Item fields required

Mark Parry (31121711) | asked May 20 '08, 8:16 p.m.
I would like to make the 'Estimate' field of a work item required when a developer selects "Start Working". I'd also like to make the Actual field required when a developer selects "Resolve". Is this possible and how would I do it?

I would like to make the 'Estimate' field of a work item required when
a developer selects "Start Working". I'd also like to make
the Actual field required when a developer selects
"Resolve". Is this possible and how would I do it?

- Open the Project Area Editor, switch to the Process Configuration page
- Select Team Configuration -> Operation Behavior
- In the table, select the field in a Role column on the row 'Save Work
Item (server)
- In 'Precondions', select 'Required Estimated Precondition' (or add it
if it is not there yet)
- In the Category/Type table, double-click the type categories or
individual types that you would like to establish the rule for.
- Select Estimate and Time Spent
- Save

This will require Estimate and Time Spent when the work item's state
changes to Resolved.
