Setting Up Jazz Team Server 3.0
I've downloaded and installed the Jazz Team Server 3.0 and have installed using the launchpad.exe and the IBM Installation Manager. When I attempt to run the Jazz Team Server, a Tomcat DOS window appears, displays commands that have been executed, and finally indicates that the "server is going to start in 109 ms"...the Tomcat DOS window is then inactive indefinitely.

This actually looks like a good sign.
As long as you don't stop the server, this DOS box should remain open (and apparently inactive) with that last "server is going to start in xyz ms" message. You seem to be ready to do the Post installation Tasks |
This actually looks like a good sign. Thank You very much Christopher. |
I'm moving forward with the Jazz Team Server 3.0 setup, based on the assumption that, what appeared to be a stalled JTS start up attempt, was actually OK...I opened a browser session and entered the following command https://<hostname>:9443/jts/setup. The browser displayed a "Loading" message, as well as a "Connected to <Server>" message, along with a blank page. I was expecting the JTS 3.0 Login page to be displayed. Any help-direction will be appreciated.

Hi,
This should not happen. Can you please provide the JTS 3.0 build details and the machine details (Like Operating System) on which this JTS is installed? I am setting up the evaluation version of RTC/JTS 3.0 and have run into a problem that seems to be a licensing issue. I am able to connect to the following URI's and login as the JTS administrator that I set up:
https://myserver:9443/jts/setup https://myserver:9443/jts/admin https://myserver:9443/ccm/admin I am using all of the default settings, including using the integrated Apache server and the Derby databases. I have successfully created a few users with varying degrees of authority. Now I am attempting to learn how to use RTC by following along with an online class. I am at the point of setting up my first project area. I launch the RTC client (I assume I am doing it correctly -- I invoke the "eclipse" executable in the TeamConcert directory using an exported DISPLAY variable). I see the menu shown in the tutorial -- and am able to create a Repository Connection. This is where I encounter the problem. When I r-click on the connection name, and choose New-->Project area, I get the menu to "Create Project Area". I enter a name, and click on Next. I then get a menu to Choose a Project Template, and I have two choices, (1) Create a new template from scratch, and (2) deploy pre-packaged templates. Since the tutorial says to use one of the pre-packaged templates, I click on the link to "Open the Process Template View for later use". Nothing happens. If I then click on the associated button to "Deploy Templates" I get an error "...... the server license policy does not allow the operation". So, I cannot definitely say that this is indeed a licensing issue, but I seem to be stuck. |
I am setting up the evaluation version of RTC/JTS 3.0 and have run into a problem that seems to be a licensing issue. I am able to connect to the following URI's and login as the JTS administrator that I set up: Hi Jerry I am not sure what online class you are following - but first check you have a Developer license assigned to you as a user. Best way to check this is via the WebUI. https://myserver:9443/ccm/admin, log in as the admin user and select Users on the menu - click on your name (or the user you are having trouble with) and check they have a Developer license in the Client License section. Also - check if you have either JazzProjectAdmin or JazzAdmin rights (hover to see what these rights allow you to do). Alternatively, here is how you might want to get a project started. Log back in to the ccm webUI (https://mysever:9443/ccm/admin using the admin user you set up during setup. This user should have a Developer license assigned to them (and the rights described above - JazzAdmin or JazzProjectAdmin). From the menu, select Project Areas and click on Create Project Area (far right-hand side of the screen. Fill in the required fields to create a project. Be aware you may not see a list in the Process sectio - and you have to "deploy to the server". Then you will see processes such as SCRUM or OpenUP or Formal Project Management Process. Once you have a project created and you have added yourself (not the admin user you logged in as), you can go back to Eclipse and connect to the repository and project area. If that does not work - let us know on this thread and we will help anthony |
OK I must have missed something along the way. I thought that the package I downloaded came with the 10 CALs already enabled. Obviously not. So are the trial activation keys downloaded with the package, or do I need to download them separately? |
you need to download the 10 user picense separately..
then using the admin UI, load that into the server. the trial keys are pre-loaded.. but that is different than the 10 user permanent licenses Sam |
you need to download the 10 user picense separately.. Ahhhh. Thanks to all for the info. I found the license download and am now working thru the examples. |
I can access the welcome page of Setup Wizard using the following URI: https://myserver:9443/jts/setup but I get many errors in page.
