Change of WI type with different workflows

What is the intended behaviour for the WI state attribute when changing WI type in the WI editor?

Seems like if the WI types (the one you change from and to) share the same workflow, the state is preserved -- but if having different workflows, the state attribute is reinitialized using the defined Start Action.

Is there a way of have the state matched (by name) to the corresponding state in the new state machine even if different workflow?

I've created work item 139613 for this.
