Rational Build Forge M4 download for new architecture

We are pleased to announce that we have posted our 4th milestone driver M4 for the new architecture of Build Forge on jazz.net. Your input is valued so please download and evaluate this milestone driver in your test environment. To aid ease-of-use and help you focus on evaluations, this milestone ships with a pre-configured Apache Derby database, removing the need for IBM Installation Manager. You can literally be setup in a matter of minutes to begin your evaluation.

This evaluation driver includes the following additions to the previous milestone driver:

Dot commands:
* set
* bset (env only)
* tset

Additional functionality in the new user interface (accessed through http://localhost:9080/newui)

* The interface now provides viewlets for steps and step details. To access these viewlets, in the project listing, click a project name.
* Pagination

As before, there is no official statement of supported browsers with the new interface. However, the interface should work in Firefox (3.5 or later preferably) and Internet Explorer 8. It does not work with Internet Explorer 6 or Internet Explorer 7.

Robust, highly flexible integration with other products (a replacement for adaptors)

Rational Build Forge 2011 will make integration with other products available through a new step provider that enables you to use JavaScript. Benefits include:

* Access to a complete programming language inside Rational Build Forge
* Simplified debugging through your choice of JavaScript debugger
* Faster and more efficient processing
* No requirement to learn the adaptor XML syntax

Additional information on specific capabilities is provided on the "New & Noteworthy" tab on the download page. You can post feedback/questions via the jazz.net "Using Build Forge" forum.

We will be posting additional milestones at a regular cadence moving forward. Thank you for your continued partnership in providing input on our future releases.

Regards,

The Build Forge Development Team
