Turning Mail into a work item
![]()
Hi All,
Is there an easy way to create a work item from a mail I received? I'm getting plenty of mails that turn into development/configuration tasks, and I have a feeling it is like that for almost everyone. In the organisation we use Microsoft Outlook of different versions (2003, 2007, and a few 2010). I guess I can copy paste the contents of the mail, or save the mail and attach it - but I was hoping for a more elegant solution - or an idea for one. Thanks, Eyal |

I think the best way to get this functionality in the pipeline is for you to comment on this enhancement request.
https://jazz.net/jazz/web/projects/Rational%20Team%20Concert#action=com.ibm.team.workitem.viewWorkItem&id=95864&tab=links (Thanks for the link Sterling.) Outlook (Exchange) is a server that does task lists, e-mail, and calendaring. So it isn't hard to see how a server that does those three things could tie them together (e.g. create task from e-mail). I think for most cases where applications have functionality to generate a record of some kind from an e-mail you have to send an e-mail to a particular mail address. So I am guessing that to implement this the solution would involve generating a work item from an e-mail sent to a particular e-mail address. |

I would love to see this plugin be implemented if it hasn't already been done.
