Attribute value in body of document

Hello,

we are running a PoC of RRC at our customer and he has a requirement we don't know how to meet.

He needs to be able to insert values of the attributes to the body of the document (both custom attributes and built in such as Artifact ID).
In other words, he needs the possibility of inserting a variable to the body of document linked with an attribute.

Is this somehow possible in RRC? If not, is there an enhancement request for this or should I file a new one?

Thanks for all comments in advance.

In the RRC UI the attributes are shown two ways:

1. In a table-like view on the project page (where you can customize attributes, etc)

2. In the sidebar when you have an artifact open.

To present these in a document together you would use the report wizard. This will use out-of-the-box templates to generate documents in Word, PDF, html, or XLS-FO formats. If you would like to modify these templates or create your own, then you would use the document studio in the Rational Publishing Engine.

Adding to my earlier post ...

In RPE you can define variables (e.g. counts) and use them in your reports.

Hi Daniel,

thanks a lot for the reply.

What I didn't understand from it is, whether it is possible to use the custom attributes in the RRC sense in the report (created in RPE or whatever else).

Thanks for clarification in advance.

I believe you can (and I would be surprised if you cannot), but I haven't tried this myself.
