I am working inside VS2008 with RTC 2.0.0.2 - and in an existing VS Solution. However, when I try and open a plan or similar - a web page is added to the tab but the WebUI is stuck on Loading and never complete. I did try and switch to the Internal Browser but that does not seem to help.

Any ideas?

many thanks
anthony

p.s About to try a new Solution to see if that helps.

I have tried a new Solution and project - and still the same problem. However, I could open the RTC WebUI from within a browser window inside VS, and then switch back to the non-loading page, did a refresh, then it displayed.

Hi Anthony,

Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the Visual Studio environment.
I'll let the Client for Visual Studio team respond.

Just for clarification regarding the Web UI, (1) Where were you able to successfully load the RTC Web UI and what pages loaded properly; (2) Where did you fail to load the RTC Web UI and what were the failing pages.

Which external vs internal internet browsers did you try?
I'm assuming the internal browser is using IE8 under the covers.

Thanks,

Mike

Anthony,
What happens if you try to load a work item? Do you see the same behavior? Or open the web UI for a project area?
What version of IE do you have installed?
Are you trying to connect to one of the jazz.net servers such as jazzdev?
regards

I get the same behaviour for all RTC actions that fire off the webUI inside VS automatically.

I have IE6 and FF installed. My default web browser for VS (for when I open web pages) is set to FF - not sure the RTC actions also invoke the default web browser. I am connecting to a locally installed server (2.0.0.2 iFix2)

Hi Mike

WebUI loads fine outside VS - it was just inside VS that there was a problem. I am only on IE6 on my machine but my default Windows web browser is FF3.6.

Thanks for the additional information Anthony.

If it is possible, we highly recommend upgrading your IE6 browser to IE8.
The RTC Web UI is no longer supported on IE6 anymore. A lot of other companies have already dropped support for it including Google.

Although in this case, it is likely not the cause of your issue (things would load on IE6 but appear broken in terms of layout, functionality, etc.)

When we get the "Loading..." message that seems to hang when opening the RTC Web UI from within the RTC Client for Visual Studio, we just click on the "Refresh" button and the web page loads immediately after that.

We use IE7 and IE8, along with Firefox3.5 and Firefox 3.6.

So, upgrading from IE6 to the later IE versions should help.

Thanks Mike - I was hoping that the internal browser in Visual Studio would be just that - another browser specific to VS and unrelated to what you had installed in the OS.

I have to keep IE6 to use certain internal apps (sigh). I do have FF3.6 installed and that is my default browser.
