Error setting up LDAP authentication

Scott Francis (61) | asked May 04 '10, 2:20 p.m.
I'm using the following URL to setup RTC Express-C (2.0.0.2 iFix2) with LDAP:
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/rtc/v2r0m0/topic/com.ibm.jazz.install.doc/topics/c_plan_identity_management.html

Steps 13 and 14 state that on the "Setup User Registry" page, I should be able to select LDAP as the user registry type. The only types available are "Tomcat User Database" and "Non-LDAP External Registry". When I click the Tomcat User Database, step 5.2 only says "You have successfully created a new user with the JazzAdmins role.", and there is no option to enter any LDAP parameters.

The other strange thing is when I go to the Advanced Properties from the admin page and try to set the com.ibm.team.repository.service.internal.userregistry.ExternalUserRegistryService value, I get the following error when I manually enter "LDAP":

CRJAZ0705I Invalid user registry type. Valid registry types are TOMCAT and UNSUPPORTED.

I've tried this on both Windows and Linux and I'm getting the same error. Is there something I'm missing?

Hi,

see https://jazz.net/downloads/rational-team-concert/releases/2.0.0.2iFix2 for your editions capabilities. LDAP is not supported in Express C.

Hi,

that is a very recent change - thanks for pointing that out. Express C does not support importing users from LDAP.

If that is the case you should be able to configure it in the setup wizard - at least with the custom setup option (not fast path).

I think you still have to do additional changes in the Tomcat server.xml so that tomcat can talk to LDAP itself. I am not sure if this is still the case but it used to be. I think there are links in the Deployment Guide. http://jazz.net/library/article/398 Search for LDAP in http://jazz.net/library/# and you can find some articles too.
