How can I extract a projects process configuration in XML fo

Currently we are in the process of determining the extent of the process customization by any given project.
Our deployment has more than 750 projects and the only way we can determine is to programmatically extract hte XML process configuration for each project area and parsing it for customizations.
We would like a simple program that gives the XML output of a given project area.
for example:
getPCxml > projectAreaName.XML
