Cross-Application Component Creation (GCM)

Hi all,

Are there any tools available which make global component creation simpler? i.e. from within the GC app, you can create a new component/configuration which automatically does the same in each of the contributing applications (RM, QM, CCM) etc. ?

I'm not aware of anything Glyn. And there are some technical challenges of trying to do this, especially when you want reuse, since not all the tools support the OSLC capabilities that might be needed.

There has been some high level discussion some time ago about potential use of templates. A template might define a pattern of a GC hierarchy, including its contributions from local configurations. However, there's no RFE or user story for any such work, and there's nothing currently planned or even on the backlog. Feel free to visit the IBM Ideas portal at https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/welcome-ibm-ideas-portal to submit an RFE.

Best regards,
David.

Hi Glyn,

I am not aware of anything like this. However, the APIs allows this.
We have created Softacus Migrator from DOORS to DNG which is automatically creating component, branches, GC Configurations. If you want, it can be built.
Similar to this, we plan to make add functionality to Project Explorer to allow user to simply scroll over GC. Similar to thisĀ
