update existin work items with new default values

Miroslav Zaninovic (36727) | asked Jul 27 '20, 7:59 a.m.
Hi,

we have introduced some changes in default values of work item fields. New default values work for new work items.
Could we somehow propagate the changes to existing work items and update default values?

Thank you

The best way to do this is to use the bulk edit capability.

Create one or more queries that select the items according to what you need to update, and then use the query to bulk update the fields with the appropriate default values.

You would have to create some kind of tooling for that. You would have to come up with various answers to questions such as: How would you determine if the attribute has still its default and has not been changed over time?

Thank You very much for answers.

What i wanted to confirm with you, there is no some default option in RTC like "Check attribute usage in repository" or something similar, what can update default values.

Bulk editing works for now, tnx
