RTC Client for Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2?

Hi

A quick, simple question - does the RTC 2.0.0.1 Visual Studio Client work with Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2?

I'm aware that it may not be supported, but is anyone aware of any reason why it will not work?

Thanks

Steve

Our testing team tried RTC VS client with VS 2010 Beta 2, quite rigorously, and didn't find any issues. You are welcome to try it. Feel free to provide us with your feedback.

We will officially support it only when we get our hands on VS2010 release.

I get the following message when I try to install the RTC Client (having already installed VS 2010 Beta 2):

"This product requires Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 or Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 to be installed on the system. Please install either of these products and try again."

Is there a text file I can edit to get past this pre-req check, or is it a whole lot more complicated than that?

Oops! The one that our testing team used was an internal build. In couple of week time 2002RC1 will be out and you will be able to work around this restriction.

Meanwhile if you need it more urgently please let me know and we can find a way.

Thanks for that - I've subscribed to the work item.

It is not urgent at present - we have a new development starting up in a few weeks using VS2010 Beta 2, and I would like us to try and Trial RTC for the work to demonstrate the benefits it provides.

RTC 2.0.0.1 will not be installable against VS 2010 - it checks for and installs only against VS 2005 and 2008.

Oops sorry didn't see all those posts in between.
The latest installs of RTC for Visual Studio 2.0.0.2 will install against VS 2010 as well.

Just trying this now with 2.0.0.2RC2.

When I try and install, I get options to install into VS2005 and VS2008, but not VS2010.

From looking at the work item for this change, it looks as though I need to set IBM_RTC_VS2010_ENABLED=True to make the option appear.

I have tried doing this by creating a system environment variable, by modifying launchpad.bat and launchpad.ini (out of desperation) - I can't get the 2010 option to appear.

Please can you let me know how to make the option appear?

Contrary to what we'd first decided, RTC 2.0.0.2 will not be installed with support for VS 2010 Beta2 - we've pulled out the support, and the variable that you mentioned won't work for now.

We've run into some licensing issues with Microsoft related to releasing an RTC version that would be installable on top of a Beta 2 product - we're in discussions with Microsoft right now and they've advised us to wait till they iron those out. My apoloies - I should've remembered to update this forum post.
So looks like you'll most likely have to wait for our patch release post VS 2010 GA.

We're actively continuing to test and fix against VS 2010.
